Film simulations

Fujifilms’ film simulations are akin to Lightroom Presets that are applied directly in-camera at image capture time. Now, I know what you’re thinking.. The usual in-camera image profiles from other brands are often way overdone and look over-processed and often have a rather unattractive look.

Fujifilm has taken another approach to in-camera image color profiles. The “Film Simulations” you’ll find in a Fujifilm camera are very usable and render unique and attractive looking JPEG files straight out of camera. This is something I’ve yet to find in any other camera system.

For a more in-depth walkthrough, the imaging resource have made a quite comprehensive analysis.

The chart above provides an overview of FujiFilms’ film simulations and how they rank in terms of saturation and tonality. I personally prefer the more desaturated film profiles such as Classic Chrome and Classic Negative.

This page will serve as a reference for my personal use of these “Film Simulations”, and I hope they can serve as a reference for others, perhaps people seeking to get started using fuji cameras or simply anyone looking for inspiration.
